I don't think those two words work together.

I use the phrase "Holy Fuck" on an almost regular basis.

I mean I use the phrase "Jeepers Cripes" on a regular basis but that doesn't make it not something that should be left to Archie comics and 78 year old men with straw hats and white socks

My dad said he'd start giving my brother and I some money every week. He did it once and it felt great to be able to buy something for the first time in months but the job he's working at has been slow to start so he hasn't been able to provide for us this week. I can't say I mind, 'cos I totally get it. I've been spending the four dollars I had left over (spent most of it on music, as I usually do) on individual songs. I think it's cool that Bandcamp lets you buy a specific track from a release on its own if the artist behind it is ok with it.

I really, really want to just ditch this blog and make a completely new one. Am I allowed to do this?

No.

Okay, I'll just vorp the posts on the front page then.

...Done. I've put the actual contents somewhere else.

Missed one.

Oh. I'm keeping that one cos it's funny.

Cool.

I am go to gym now , ANY ADVICES ????!?!!

get strong

But like, how do I ...."Work Out"?

It’s basically just doing consistently exercises that are relatively easy for you (going too hard will injure you) until you’re tired out. What are you looking to get out of it? Like for myself, I stick mostly to cardio stuff because I want to 1) feel exercise high 2) keep my risk of heart diseases down because I’m at the point where I should start caring about stuff like that.

I just have a general desire to lose weight, that's really it. I'm not overweight or anything by any means, I'm actually dead-fucking average weight, but I am really insecure about it and I kind of want to change that. Also I just want to get into the habit of exercising so I can at least lower the risk of being fucked over later in life.

Do your research and figure out what’s best for you.

Cardio is better for burning carbs or fat long term depending on how hard

Weight/resistance training burns fat and build muscle, without necessarily losing weight.

If you choose the cardio route, pm me. My brother in law can figure out a plan for you that will give you the best results.

If you go the weight training route, Pinterest (weirdly enough) is where I found my most of my exercises. The strong app is super simple to use and you can plan out workouts and record your process.

The lose it app has helped me out multiple times. It’s great for tracking food and I’ve lost a total of like 70 lbs using it. Remember, calories in vs calories out is the best way to lose weight if that’s your only goal. I’ve lost about 35 of those lbs using only the app with no added exercise. The only thing about it is the best way to use it is to log EVERYTHING separately (ex. If you go to subway and order a turkey sandwich, log the bread, turkey, cheese and sauce separately instead of “subway turkey sandwich”). I never logged vegetables or drinks (I only drink low calorie drinks anyways.)

If you’re dead-average weight you don’t need to worry about losing weight, man. Under- and over-weight are generally things you wanna avoid. Cardio is great for lowering your risk of cardiovascular diseases, but you’re pretty young right? Like late teens, right? Not saying don’t exercise, but mostly just reminding you that a 16,17 year old (or whatever you are, that’s just my guess) doesn’t need to worry about that kind of stuff just yet. Here’s the general gist on different kinds of exercises and their benefits: cardio (running, swimming, treadmills, ellipticals) helps to reduce body weight, literally speed metabolism, reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases, and improve mood. Strength training (think lifting weights, sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, certain kinds of swimming, most of the machines at gyms; shit that specifically works out your muscles) - increase metabolism, improve mood, possibly reduce body weight, decrease risk of osteoporosis and arthritis later in life.
I definitely also suggest reading about / watching videos on different kinds of exercises too.

If you’re unsure of what you want or what kind of exercises to do then an easy place to start, and just improve your tolerance for exercise (like make you more used to having a higher heart rate and your body demanding more oxygen) is running on treadmills or ellipticals and lifting light weights. Like if you don’t have much muscle mass, don’t react for the 50 pounders.

Remember too that exercise should always be individualized. I’m dead average weight too. I also have metal rods attached to my spine and at least 3 screws in most of my vertebrae. Running for too long is out for me. Lifting really heavy weights is out for me. So what I stick to is swimming, push-ups, and lots of repetitions of lifting light weights.

Research is what I'm good at, fortunately.

I use Pinterest often so I'll see if I can check that out eventually. About the cardio part, I'll see where things go and update you in case I do decide to go that route. Cheers.

You had me at "improve mood".

I have been using the treadmill for most of the time since I first started going to the gym. Haven't had a lot of time to become acquainted to the other equipment but they've got a lot of stuff there. They do have ellipticals as far as I can tell so I'll see about those. Most of what I've been doing is the, uhhh, the treadmills obviously as well as the cycling machine, whatever you call them. I ride my bike a fuck ton and FWIW it's good enough exercise on its own but certain conditions have prevented me from being able to use it much recently. It's served me well, though. I think for the most part I just need to look around and see what works best for the time because I haven't become fully accustomed to everything there is for me to take advantage of. My grandma taught me early not to push myself too hard so that's good; movie tropes kind of got the best of me to be honest.

I’m guessing you’re talking about like the stationary bikes too. Those are great, I love both of those. But yeah, man, any and all kinds of exercise can help improve mood. That’s probably the number 1 reason I exercise regularly. It’s not a silver bullet, of course (there’s no such thing), but it’s helped me a ton. Like specifically with better managing my stress. I’m one of those people who like… if unchecked then I stay stressed out as hell for days on end about shit that doesn’t even matter. In the absence of reasonable (like work and school) stressors, exercise definitely nips that in the bud for me and even makes my reasonable stress easier to handle. Honestly I think it even helps me to better manage being depressed. Again, manage, not cure, but yeah.
But right here:

Absolutely a great approach to it.
It’s all about you and your own needs/strengths/preferences/enjoyment.
Also movie tropes? Like exercise montages? Bro, I wish that was a real thing so bad. I mean with steroids buuuut, you know, even if I didn’t study/manage drugs for a career I’d probably still say that’s not a good approach Lmao. Not that I’d think you’d ever use (much less acquire) steroids lol

Good luck, dude. Just find out what you’re good at, what you like, be consistent with it, give yourself days to rest when you need it, and listen to your body. Oh another thing; something I find helps a lot is not making it like… you know, not thinking to yourself “I have to do this.” That tends to just lead to feeling down on yourself eventually. Just do it for the enjoyment of it, know what I mean? Also what kind of conditions? if you don’t mind me asking, of course. I’m guessing summer because holy shit, it’s hot as balls this year.

Here in Florida it's actually been relatively warm as of late. Used to, the afternoons would get to around 80 degrees tops but recently it's started becoming around, like... 60? It's the kind of temperature where you don't really notice it because it's not too hot and not too cold.

Honestly, I’m running under the assumption that you’re more looking to lose fat than weight. A lot of people who are of dead average weight still carry a lot of visceral fat and be above average on the body fat index, and that’s still unhealthy. Trying to burn off a little bit of that fat, and especially replacing it with muscle is a good idea.

Remember too that exercise should always be individualized. I’m dead average weight too. I also have metal rods attached to my spine and at least 3 screws in most of my vertebrae. Dude, same as far as the rods. From the bottom of my neck to the top of my hips. My long term cardio is more due to the fact that I’m a long time smoker though. I’ve never really had a problem with stuff like back squats, but I also spent a lot of time working my back to strengthen there to be able to support the barbell. I know my limits though, and that’s honestly the most important thing

Yooo another Floridian! Let's go wrassle some gators!!

Hell yeah. Gator wrestling isn't entirely in my blood as I was mainly born and raised in Georgia - I spent my childhood there, and my family still remains there. However basically all of my teenage years (except for one, which was a year spent with my mom in the longest successive time I had been living away from my grandmother in any aspect) have been spent in Florida where only my grandmother, my brother, and I reside. I can't say it doesn't get a little lonely here, with me having to orchestrate entire vacations and such on the small amount of free days I get just to see my mom and dad face to face. Recently with my father we've been able to stay for long amounts of time at his house and just have fun, but with my mom the last time I saw her was us stopping at a McDonalds and talking for a minute or two and that was that. My mom has it worse than my dad right now. She is seriously getting fucked over right now and it upsets me that I can't really stay with her that long. The year we lived with her was turbulent, to say the least, but I did sincerely enjoy it and it completely changed me because, lo and behold, my mom is a great parent while my grandmother is... um... not. That's not to say she can't parent, no, she had a fuck ton of children all of whom I still see regularly (they also happen to reside in Georgia), and seeing as they're all pretty damn successful nowadays I'd say she did a good job, but... that was more than three decades ago. And we're her grandchildren. I lost myself and I don't know what to add to this but between living in a single house with my grandmother, occasionally being able to see my parents, and living with my mom moving between houses and hotels multiple times with a half-broken car replete with anxiety attacks... damn, as fucked as the latter sounds, it's still a hard decision to make.

Dude that really sucks I'm sorry. I hope you can spend a lot more time with your family in the future

I like to take walks with my brain and ask it to pull Autechre song names out of its ass and make new ones from them
