anyone wanna lift with me

wouldn't this be better suited for the hobbies category?

its not a hobby its a lifestyle

Man. I'd lift if I had the independence to get my own stuff to lift. I wouldn't want my parents to know the fitness stuff I do, though.

get a gym membership or get a door pullup bar https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pull-up+bar&gclid=Cj0KCQiAorKfBhC0ARIsAHDzsltlZOTqwvAyivN5XxK8Os51dJc9cO5k0ZPsVWb3ZkfzoC1LD4OdhvIaAl7nEALw_wcB&hvadid=616931741728&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9060629&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16619763774838185984&hvtargid=kwd-604857730&hydadcr=24664_13611849&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_5x824p57g_e
and just do a bunch of varations of push ups

you dont need anything to exercise. first you start by lifting light things; a pillow, a book. then you move onto harder things like laptops and wood. lastly, once you have built the strength, you move onto the hardest things-- 14karat gold bars, trucks, houses. once you are here, you are not yet a master. you become a master when you can lift the heaviest thing... the weight of the world on your shoulders.

so true i should lift my heavy bass book (book of geddy lee bass collention :)))

that is not the heaviest thing. the heaviest thing is getting the voices out of my head

sounds like you could just put the voices inside of the world and that would make things easier but idk man

Guys dudes guys I'm finally doing it. I am lifting. I'm starting off small with these two little 5 pound weights from a cheap store and I'm gonna commit to this. I will be so buf.

Lift water jugs - super easy to customize the weight.

Warning ahead of time: it can get hard to stay consistent and you most likely won’t see the results you want as fast as you’d like to. That being said, it feels great and, as long as you don’t overdo it, it’s great for you. If you ever start reading about weight lifting online then just keep this in mind: you do not need to take any supplements. If you start reading about weight lifting online, you’ll find that there are some guys who have this ridiculous regimen of like… drink a protein shake, eat spoonfuls of pure creatine, smoke some Viagra, snort HGH — that’s not actually a real example, but bottom line is a teenage boy doesn’t need to take any nutritional supplements for working out.

Try to do exercises aside from just lifting too, like get things like sit ups and push ups in as well. But again, don’t try to overdo it. If it starts to hurt, you’re probably overdoing it.

I will avoid supplements and instead eat my brocli. Thank you chemical man.

Also, I have been doing other exercises too, for a while now. Thanks man. I will do the things every night and never ever ever forget to cuz its fun yippdie doodle.

I know someone who had heart attack from prework out.
He actually had stop lifting and stuff and can only do regular workouts. He is half the size he used to be
He was HUGE

Jesus Christ. Is he okay now? Yeah dude. If you ever wanna be freaked out, go to bodybuilding.com and use their search engine for the words “pre work out” or “stack.” These dudes will list everything they take on a daily basis and before a workout and it can get terrifying. Dude was mixing shit tons of caffeine and ephedrine with absurd amounts of creatine and protein.

The sad part is that a lot of it is dudes who like… just don’t feel secure in their own bodies? You know what I mean, the kinds of guys who want to look like the fucking Hulk and think that’s what it means to have a “man’s” body or be “manly”.

Sucks for them because the amount of muscle you can actually build has a genetic cap. After a work out when your muscles get damaged and then start to tell themselves “okay I got damaged (atrophy), I’m gonna grow to larger than I was before I got damaged (hypertrophy) so that when I get damaged the next time, it won’t be as bad.” But after they grow larger to a certain extent, they release a protein called Myostatin that says “Okay stop growing now, that’s enough.” And how much Myostatin you release is controlled entirely by your genes. The more you produce, the lesser muscle you can gain. This has led to some psychotic motherfuckers deciding to take drugs known to stop the release of Myostatin. It’s also led to selective breeding of cows that produce very little Myostatin.

Like here’s a picture of a bull bred to produce very little Myostatin Link. Dude’s even buff around his freaking *eyes*

^This might be useful to know by the way, ackyyackyattack. However regardless of how much Myostatin your genes cause you to produce, you will indeed gain muscle mass through exercise.

Edit: lol just remembered, one of my roommates used to lift a lot and he had this preworkout blend he’d buy and it was called motherfucking Psychotic and the company that made it was called Insane Labz. So many companies with no qualms taking advantage of peoples insecurities.

Damn. How do people not realize what's too much? I've always thought just a coffee was a bit much for me. Thanks for the advice, dude. I really, really do appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm happier now though

Yeah he's good now. Poor guy. He's a customer of mine
He says he learned a hard lesson on over doing things

Good to hear. That’s just… wow. Poor dude. Glad he’s better.

Massive amounts of insecurity, overblown expectations, and a distorted perspective on + too much caring about manliness. Also no prob, dude. Good luck in your endeavours. You’re doing your body a good deed in committing to exercise. Way more than you realize. Plus it’s fun and feels great.

Hey farts. Muscles is related to lifting, right? I'm AFAB (assigned fabulous at birth) and I wanna build as much muscle as possible. I'm willing to donate a lot of my time and energy to this. Is there good ways to do this with small results in around a month or two?

Also question: Do you do music when you exercise and lift? I do sometimes. Good album picks for me are Master of Puppets and Vulgar Display of Power. I'd say the Black Album too, but there's only so many times I can hear Enter Sandman before I wanna rip my eyes out.

Muscle definition really has more to do with body fat percentage than muscle mass. Though you can end up just looking super wiry.

You will want to do higher weights and lower reps. Endurance stuff isn't going to help muscle mass as much. Also make sure you're giving your muscles enough protein to rebuild themselves.

Anybody else get inspired to l i f t from weird stuff? For me, it's White Zombie music (specifically astrocreep 2000) and commentators talking about posts from places like r/Fatlogic. I dunno. I can't tell if those are weird or not. Never heard anyone else's inspirations. That be why I'm askin'.

For me it was being addicted to exercise but deciding that I hate running.

I'm trying to get creative with "weights", or various heavy objects I find that I might wanna use for lifting since I only have 1 5 lb pair of dumbbells. Is this a stupid thing to do? I do have a 16 lb bass amp that I could use, but I feel scared that if I accidentally drop it, I'll damage my amp. And I can't really think of much else that I could use. Is it stupid? I don't know.

Also, not as related to lifting, but I'm having trouble with pushups. Am I doing something wrong? Is it my back?
