Reject modernity; embrace C O W

Unrelatedly, I just discovered that there's a paint.net plugin that adds support for math latex formatting and I am very glad that such a thing exists

White wine is green grapes robbed of everything that makes them good.

you have just lost The Game.

i'm going to go insane trying to buy a Playstation 5

Why didn’t I know I had a math test today

It's tricky to keep track of things, lately. Time, especially. Hope that test went well.

I think I might consider hosting a small "secret santa" -esque event where a number of people make TC&S avatars for eachother, hm.

That sounds interesting

that would be fun but i'm bad at pixel art so whoever i got would just be dissapointed

I think that's part of the fun

As yes putting a hood over a prisoner. My favorite type of prisoners are college grads

When a literal ivy league school slides into your email inbox and you're sitting there literally struggling to finish one day of school...

Oh, I accidentally checked that box on the PSAT about letting colleges know your email so they can contact you, what was it now, two or three years ago?

I'm still getting harassed by some of them.

The deadline for class registrations are coming up and I am going to yell.

Haha, class registrations for next year were literally due less than halfway through the school year. I don't know how they expect us to choose so early, but I guess that's just how it is.

you have just lost The Game.

No fair, you made me lose by reminding me that it exists

I ordered two nail polishes online the other day and they came in yesterday. The only problem was that when I opened the package, there were two boxes, and when I opened the first box it had the two polishes I ordered. So I opened the second box there was literally $50 worth of nail polish in there that I didn't order, and I wasn't charged for it so I'm pretty sure they gave me someone else's order by accident...
kind nice though B)

You would think admission into a top-tier engineering school would give me motivation to make sure my grades don't go to shit so they don't rescind the offer....

....nope. If anything, the acceptance has made me have to work twice as hard to get any motivation to do anything.

Almost like college admissions stress was the only thing keeping me from feeling mild pandemic depression/burnout. Stress was what was keeping me going. Wild.

At the minute I'm super demotivated to start research. My excuse is "my application hasn't processed yet so I don't have to start." We'll see if I can summon any motivation once I'm officially a doctoral student.

It's usually three years, give or take, for a doctorate, yeah? (I'm not sure if it's the same in NZ as it is in the US). How much of that is actually spent working on the doctoral thesis and dissertation? All of it?

Yea our degree structure is different and more specialised, bachelors is three years, honours is one year mixed postgrad courses and dissertation (masters is two of mixed courses and thesis) and PhD is a three year thesis with no courses at all.

So I know exactly what my thesis is on, what my goals for the first year are and where to start, I just can't find the will to start. Let's hope it starts when the admin bullshit that you need to get started is finished!

this single-handedly made me not want to pursue a doctorate anymore

It's a research degree. At the end I'll have written papers, gone to conferences and become an expert in a field I love. Win win win
