As the 2022-2023 ski/snowboard season is approaching, I feel like this thread is appropriate.

Talk about your goals for the upcoming season, talk about what mountain you will shred, talk about gear, etc

Man, despite its messiness, I really like the white stuff. It's fun to play around in.

...I have always had an adoration for snowboarding, though. Sounds like something I'd do if it weren't for the risks that come with it.

DIE KITTEN

I am very disappointed. I was looking at an old estimate of their opening date

They dont open until 2 days before thanksgiving

Bump!

I competed in a snowboarding competition today. It was a 1.5 hour rail jam, and they gave away like $2k in sponsored snowboarding gear.

Unsurprisingly, I didn’t win any thing, but I am still glad I participated. I am still learning rails, and I really improved a lot during the session. The wonders of having 40 other people pushing you to improve. It was extremely fun. 100% would do again

Snowboarding seems hard; i wish you luck in your next competition! Does anyone here cross-country ski?

I love snowboarding, but I don't do anything competitive. I don't really do rails at all (on a snowboard 😜). Sometimes I'll go off jumps and do tricks, but mostly I just like exploring the mountains. I've been everywhere in Minnesota, and a few places in Wisconsin and Michigan. I'm planning to go out in Michigan more while I'm here. I heard there's a place nearby that has no maintenance and essentially just snowboarding through the woods, and that sounds awesome.
While I don't do much for tricks, I can get anywhere on a snowboard, from flat runs that require maintaining some speed to black diamonds to off trail wooded areas, I can manage. I also love carving. There's really nothing like the rush with a good carving flow. In another life I may have been a racer, but I'm probably too old to consider that now.

This is dementedkermit, I am just using this account so I dont get my number of posts in the 5 digits yet

Nice! What board do you ride?

I ride a Ride, actually. 2010 Ride Manic though I don't think that picture does it justice. The bottom is neon and people always ask me if my board is glowing.

Dang that board looks sick! I ride a K2 Geometric, I really like how light and flexy it is and easy to maneuver.

Have you ever been to Granite Peak WI? It's my "home" mountain, though it's a 5 hour drive.

Granite peak got 15 inches of snow this past week and I can't go this weekend 😭😭😭
