ForumRelationships and Stuff ► What do you Expect to Gain out of a Relationship with Other People?
When you form bonds with people, be it classmates, peers, colleagues, what have you, what is it that you seek to gain from it? Why do you make friends, or reach out to people? Why do you interact with people, like here, on this forum? What is your endgoal you have in mind for it? What is the purpose of putting so much time and effort into a relationship with other people?

there's nothing to gain, it's a waste of time

Then why do you use this forum?

I want erbody to be like there goes that man. There he goes.

I expect to gain collateral damage of my emotions from being ț̷͕͕͂̓r̴͕͕̗̈̈́̓̂ả̸̡̮̯͇̲̫̖̑͒͝p̸̧̘̈́̕p̶̠̈́̔̌̓͋ė̸̞͍̱ḓ̶̑̈̄͆̕ ̶̛͌͊͒̾̏ͅi̵̖̗̗̍͌̓̋͝͝n̷͎̯̝͍̉̍ͅs̸̛͇̹̄̈ị̵̡̩̰̰̲̾̑̃̀͒̚͠d̸̢̛͚̞̪̖̺̬͗͑̑͛͑̚e̵̹͚̥̐̓̔̀̓͋ ̵͓̓t̴̊͘h̶̘̾̍̇̂͐͒̈́i̵͍̅̅͆͛s̸̘̥̰͉̺̩̥̊͌̂̎͐̚̕ ̴̛͙̦̺̰̞̇̍̀̿͜͠͠ͅb̷͙̾͊͊o̵̢̗̬̭̓͒ď̷͍̬̦͉̱̞̮̔̕ȳ̴̪͔̼̈́̋̾̆͊

being lonely doesnt feel good

Then why do you use this forum?

what stripes said, also because stripes told me to use it

Bro you literally have, like, 1.5x the post count stripes does.

What emotional need is being met by interacting with people?

well loneliness i guess but its kind of not worth it in the long run but also it's hard to live with it, idk how to explain

actually no, i don't care about loneliness, i just like to feel better about myself

bug, as a human being, you need to have interactions with other human beings.

why

because as a hermit, your mental health will slowly but steadily decline and decline until you go crazy

yeah but why would that happen

humans are social creatures and are programmed with an innate desire for connection

so we're robots

well, more like, early humans who got along well with other humans survived better and were better able to pass down their genes

therefore the natural progression made us desire to be accepted socially so we could better be alive

so it doesn't apply to me then, because i don't care

well, you're descended from those very same humans

unless you have some latent aspd i'm not aware of

i like having you around. don't you feel the same way?

i dont know how to answer that

I like understanding other people better and also feeling understood myself. I like knowing that I might be making someone else's life a little bit better.

I'm sure more than 50% of the people that know you feel that way about you, so you're doing ok.

We're all here occupying this Earth for a short while. We might as well make someone feel better while we're here.

i regret typing that n idk how to delete

First question: I don’t go into it seeking anything in particular.
Second question: someone to talk to plus solitude is painful.
Third question: people to talk to.
Fourth: no end goal.
Last question: who cares?

Really the answer is just it’s nice to talk to friendly people. I mean I talk to strangers in public all the time. Yesterday I chatted with a guy while he was pissing in a Gatorade bottle about how it sucks the laundromat we were at only had one bathroom and that the manager locks it when she leaves at 5pm then I just started listening to him tell me about how raising his kid has been going.
