ForumMusic/Movies/TV/Books ► I DID IT. I FINALLY MADE MUSIC. edit: arranged, not made.
Something I wanted to do for the longest time. What really motivated me and pushed me to take the first step in learning how to arrange music was procrastinating on studying for my AP exam, the deadline of which is looming larger and pressing harder on my soul by the minute.

was a song that the instrumentation of which intrigued me for the longest time. i always knew if i was going to learn how to arrange music, this was the song i was gonna practice on. i had it puzzled over in my head already. it's simple, it's fun to listen to. it was perfect. i learned a lot in the half hour i spent on this arrangement when i should've been studying (or god forbid, sleeping before 2 am.)

i'm always most proactive when there's a deadline afoot. the only problem is it's proactiveness in the wrong place :/

rip gilvasunner sm64 rips :(

edit2: the 2 percussion channels were charted by ear

Given that you're new to arranging and BeepBox is somewhat limiting, this is really good! I can definitely tell what the source song is just from listening.

:')

With these bars you have sent me back to being five years old waking up to discover this game and the magic of 3D platforming.

another one i really wanted to do. i love reorchestrating music. especially 8bit and n64 soundfonts.

How do you know what to transcribe? Do you do it all by ear or is the original sheet music out there somewhere?

i'll probably do fairy fountain next. that's an easy one, and one i really like.

probably half by ear, half by sheet music. i look up the melody and whatever on musescore. that's where about half the audio channels come from. the rest (like the choir and whatnot) is done by ear. basically whatever isn't already on the sheet music.

edit: from what i've heard, fairy fountain has 4 audio channels. the beginning strumming into the main melody is gonna take some doing to figure out and transcribe.
