Thoughts on the Liquid Piston rotary engine? Should they make a bigger one?
I think the design is super cool. I'm sure they're working on scaling it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if it proves difficult to manufacture a durable-enough larger one.

It's kind of like when you want to run high-bore pistons in your regular engine - the bigger the piston, the greater the stresses that you have to engineer for - which is one of the reasons that you'd slap some cylinder sleeves on.
I think this basically comes back to the cube-square law (the force created by the engine roughly goes up proportional to the volume of the chamber, but strength goes up proportional to area). So everything has to be engineered a lot sturdier, from the chambers to the rotor to the seals.
