ForumTouchy Subjects ► What programming language is the best?
After seeing this post, I figured it could be fun to have a thread to debate the pros and cons of different programming languages. And so, voila!

Turing.

German

blockly lmao

then if you want, you can convert the code to java

I do all my programming in German.

I'm just going to say Python is the best because it's easy.

Lately I've been into Unison.

It's one of them fancy functional languages, and Unison's "big idea" is that all code is stored in a DB based on a hash of its AST. Internally, code references other code by hash, instead of by name, which has interesting implications for software distribution, updates, and dependencies.

I've also been using it to learn "algebraic effects" (which Unison calls "abilities").

None are the best all round

So, what we really need to be arguing about is what's the best per specific use

Clearly the best programming language is Unary.

The best language is C, for the same reasons it is the worst language.

I enjoy programming in binary.

Edit: Shit aprzn beat me to the joke.

Unary ≠ Binary, Unary < Binary

Meanwhile in HTML....

Depends on how you define "<". I take it you were defining it based on number of available digits, but Unary > Binary if you define it based on number of digits required to represent an arbitrarily large number x.

I looked at unary and somewhere in there binary is used, I think converting from brainfuck?

Idk I only glanced at it.

🦀 Rust. 🦀 Safe, expressive, fast.

I enjoy that this thread is mostly jokes instead of an actual discussion.

the best programming language is super mario world

Don’t talk to me if you write in non whitespace characters

It's not mostly jokes. These are all actual programming languages. If you are a programmer, you are masochist who argues with a computer for "fun". All of these languages are therefore "fun" to use.

CharCrash is the best language, hands down.

Definitely not biased because I created it or anything

Whats CharCrash

A language based on brainfuck that Mr Joy over here created.

99% of my programming has been done in scratch lmao

i did a little python and i know a few things in html but scratch is where i've made everything meaningful

"Inspired by", not "based on".

I take pride in knowing that mine is more human-readable. "More" being the relative term here.

lmfao i most of the scratch project i'm really proud of were made in scratch 2.0 and are stored on a hard drive that i have long since lost

and scratch 2.0 is hella outdated too
